Class Structure

Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Class Structure:

The basic route to technical progress in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu consists of a consistent training regimen based upon three main elements:

  • Learning the techniques and strategy of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu;
  • The use of drills to practice those techniques and strategies until the technique can be performed flawlessly on an unresisting partner; and
  • Applying the techniques and strategy on an uncooperative, resisting, opponent in live sparring (commonly referred to as “rolling”).

Students train at their own pace to a greater degree than in most traditional martial arts such as karate, tae kwon do, kung fu or aikido. Students are expected to push themselves hard rather than being pushed by someone else. This kind of self-discipline is always more impressive than having discipline imposed by another.

Classes are taught in a safe, friendly, and controlled environment which fosters fun, camaraderie, respect, and inspires efficient learning, technical progress, and physical fitness.
