Kirvin’s Brazilian Jiu Jitsu journey began in the summer of 2023 through an unexpected encounter. While working at Target, he noticed Professor Sean in the self-checkout line wearing a Colorado Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Satori shirt. Curious about the martial art, he approached him, not realizing he was speaking with the head instructor. That chance meeting sparked a passion for Brazilian Jiu Jitsu that has continued to grow ever since.
He completed his free trial week and from his very first class, Kirvin knew Brazilian Jiu Jitsu was the right martial art for him. Initially, his goal was simple: to develop the skills and confidence needed to protect himself and his loved ones. What began as an interest in self-defense soon evolved into a long-term commitment to personal growth, learning, and training.
After taking a brief hiatus due to life circumstances, Kirvin returned to training at the end of 2024 with renewed focus and dedication. Around the same time, he began teaching evening striking classes up at Colorado Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Satori. He quickly found a passion for coaching, enjoying the opportunity to introduce students to striking and watching their skills and confidence develop over time.
In 2025, he expanded his coaching role by helping teach the kids’ Jiu Jitsu classes. While teaching children presented a new challenge, it quickly became one of the most rewarding parts of his journey as an instructor. One of his favorite parts of coaching children is finding different ways to explain techniques and concepts, recognizing that every student learns differently and benefits from an individualized approach.
Today, Kirvin is passionate about helping students of all ages build confidence, develop practical self-defense skills, and experience the same growth and sense of accomplishment that Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and striking has brought to his own life.
