Profile:
Gregg Stephenson began his Brazilian Jiu Jitsu journey under Professor David Ruiz, Founder of Colorado Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, in 2006. Big Gregg spent countless hours learning and teaching Brazilian Jiu Jitsu basics alongside Professor Matt Cram, who taught many of the fundamental Brazilian Jiu Jitsu classes at the old academy. It was during these many hours as Professor Cram’s assistant that Big Gregg developed his deep understanding of the fundamental principles, positions, and leverages which form the foundation of any efficient and effective jiu jitsu game.
When Colorado Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Satori opened its doors in 2009, Big Gregg was there to lend his support and knowledge to help grow the new Academy and has been training at CBJJS with Sean Stewart ever since. While Big Gregg is best known for his abilities as an instructor who is particularly able to break down technique in a manner that makes it accessible to beginners and experts alike, he is also the developer of several series and flows of jiu jitsu technique (including the Lotus, the Bavarian Pretzel and the Ugly Face) which make him an extremely dangerous leg lock practitioner.
