Happy New Year! As we kick off 2025, it is good to reflect on and remember some to the highlights of how Colorado Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Satori finished off 2024: It was brilliant! Shastin Michelle earned the Silver Medal at the 2024 IBJJF World Jiu-Jitsu No-Gi Championship in the Women’s Flyweight Blue Belt Division. Not only was this Shastin’s first ever IBJJF competition, but Shastin executed a highlight reel submission on her way to Silver – scoring a :34 second arm-in guillotine submission that was absolute fire, and quite possibly the fastest submission of the tournament! Outstanding! Way to go Shastin! Way to go Colorado Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Satori! Brilliant!
In addition, while CBJJS sent only a small team consisting of two athletes to the 2024 IBJJF No-Gi Worlds Tournament, every CBJJS athlete that competed made it to the Podium, as Professor Sean Stewart earned Bronze at the 2024 IBJJF World Jiu-Jitsu No-Gi Championship. This is what Sean had to say on Facebook about making it to the Podium in 2024:
“Made it back to the podium at the 2024 World IBJJF Jiu-Jitsu No-Gi Championship…It was Silver in 2023. Decided to compete at the last minute, as I was coming to Vegas to coach Shastin Michelle in her first ever IBJJF competition (she was brilliant, scoring a :34 second arm-in guillotine submission that was fire and taking the Silver Medal in her Flyweight Blue Belt division), and managed a Bronze. Making the podium two years in a row is not too shabby. Got to put in more work; maybe 2025 can be the year for Gold. Good times! Thank you to all the Colorado Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Satori athletes who made this possible: You are only as good as your teammates make you!
