I’m coming back to Denver a world champion! Unreal! I couldn’t do it with out my professorts Sean Stewart, Don Westman, and coach Teri Stewart! I also could do it without the Traveling Combat Crew and teammates! Special thanks to Stephanie Burke and Stephanie Taylor! You women are my ride and dies and keep me humble and continue to build me up and believe in me. Daniel Goldberg, Walker Madden, Josh Taylor, Lewi Gault, Gregory Wall and so many others at Colorado Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Stapleton! Jen Unruh, Erin Rogers Linton, Katie Morrell Fingland, Natalie Grigsby and Kasey Pommer and so many others at WWA who support and encourage me! And always my kiddos and family for putting up with my crazy!

Heather was not the only member of the CBJJ Stapleton Traveling Combat Crew to battle their way to the 2018 IBJJF No-Gi Worlds Podium. Professor Sean Stewart earned Silver in the Black Belt Medium-Heavy Division, not a bad end to 2018 which saw him make the podium in each of the 4 IBJJF events in which he competed! Sean had this to say about his
2018 IBJJF No-Gi World Championship experience:

Earned Silver at the 2018 World IBJJF Jiu-Jitsu No-Gi Championship. Fought through a full bracket but lost in the finals by an advantage (I missed the back take off my Electric Chair Sweep – that’s going to haunt me)…Jiu Jitsu has a way of humbling you….still a pretty good day! Thank you to the Colorado Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Stapleton athletes who prepared me to make this run at a World Title – we are only as good as our training partners make us! Thank you to the Traveling Combat Crew for making these competition trips epic!

Stephanie Taylor made the Podium, not once, but twice at the 2018 IBJJF No-Gi Worlds. Our Savage Steph took Bronze in her weight class and Bronze in the Open Class, displaying amazing perseverance, excellent athleticism, and great technique! What a performance. Steph recapped her
2018 IBJJF No-Gi World Championship experience saying:

Well I have my first IBJJF No Gi world Championship under my belt! Took double bronze, I won some and lost some and had very close matches that should have been mine! You’re either winning or learning and I will say I have come a long way in just 6 months of having my blue belt???? Thanks to my professors Sean Stewart and Don Westman who see my potential and push me to be better everyday! I would not be where I am in just a short 15 months if it was not for the traveling combat crew Stephanie Burke Heather Sarles Westman my hubby Josh Taylor and for Teri Stewart for always putting me in positions I struggle with and forcing me to execute!

Not to be outdone was Ronald Robin who also made the Podium twice at the
2018 IBJJF No-Gi Worlds, taking double Bronze. Ronald said of the experience:

Great learning experience. I won two bronze medals. Lost on advantage twice to the gold medal winner. Looking forward to my next tournament. Thanks to my coaches Sean Stewart, Don Westman, and the rest of my teammates. Also, I want to thank my girlfriend Sheila Navarro, who was at my side to support me. Thanks babe.

While Josh Taylor did not make the podium at his first IBJJF No-Gi Worlds tournament, he did some great Jiu Jitsu and nearly had an electrifying submission. Next time Josh! Also part of the of the BJJ Stapleton Traveling Combat Crew for the trip to Anaheim, California, for the 2018 IBJJF No-Gi Worlds were Stephanie Burke and Professor Don Westman, each of who could not compete due to injury, but who made the trip with the team to coach and support! What and amazing squad! As you might expect, some shenanigans did ensue.
