On January 22, 2023, Scott Dye was awarder his BJJ Black Belt at the annual Colorado Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Satori Holiday Extravaganza. We have a new Black Belt! It was great to see Professor Scott Dye at his first post promotion 6am class up at Colorado Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Satori! Becoming a BJJ Black Belt has not stopped Scotty from being a 6am Wrecking Crew regular (up and rolling before most people wake). So proud to have had the opportunity to be your Professor for much of your BJJ journey Scott! Scott started training with me when I first opened the academy, back in 2009 when I was just a baby Brown Belt, and never lost faith, and it has been quite a ride since, through adversity and successes…Thank you Scott! I look forward to your Black Belt days ahead: May they be many and joyous!
This is what Scott had to say on Facebook about earning his BJJ Black Belt:
“I received my black belt in Brazilian Jiujitsu last night at our Colorado BJJ Satori party from professors: Don Westman, Sean Stewart, Teri Stewart, and Greg Stephenson. I’ve put a lot of time, sweat and tears into Jiujitsu. I appreciate all the people that help me earn this including my wife, my professors and teammates. I also would like to thank Amal Easton, the late Mauricio Zingano, Matt Simms, Hans Thompson for my earlier years. I have no ego about this new belt. I actually prefer no gi because I can just show up and roll. However, this is honor and a huge burden because I expect certain level from myself. There are several others in our gym that I think are more qualified (Walker, Aaron, Dell, Lewi…) in skill but as I’ve come to learn that time has its merit as well. I guess you could think of it like a good bottle of wine. This is definitely not the end of my journey. I hope to have many more healthy years to watch our gym grow and see other people achieve their goals!”

“My husband, Scott Dye has shared his story, so now I can too! Last night I was honored and blessed to watch my husband receive his black belt. This journey has not been an easy one for him as life brought many ups and downs along the way. Yet he remained steadfast! I am so proud of his determination, dedication, perseverance, courage and indomitable spirit. Babe, thank you for being a model and man of such characteristics daily. I love you and I’m proud of you!!!”
