Thank you for a brilliant two day Jiu Jitsu seminar Yuri Simoes: It was awesome! Talk about starting the new year off with a bang, on Saturday, January 6, 2018, Yuri Simoes, a multiple time ADCC and IBJJF World Champion, gave the first day of his two day seminar up at Colorado Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Stapleton. Day one of the seminar included three hours of instruction and Yuri shared gi techniques, starting with takedown setups leading to the morote seoi nage throw. Yuri then showed how takedowns should be followed immediately by guard passing and/or submissions, demonstrating how the morote seoi nage can lead directly to a near side armbar. Next, Yuri showed how the setup for an uchi mata throw could lead to an ankle pick takedown. Yuri followed up the takedown and takedown to submission training with a modified double under guard pass leading to joint locks, chokes, and back takes. Finishing up day one, Yuri had the seminar participants do live positional training with a focus on using the techniques he shared earlier in the seminar and then rolled with anyone who had the energy left to roll after three hours of instruction. It was excellent. Day two, on Sunday January 7, 2018, was as good as the first, and for another three hours Yuri shared some of the very no-gi techniques that helped him win the 2017 99kg ADCC Championship, including arm drags and collar tie takedowns. Yuri finished day two by teaching how to pass the seated guard two different ways, both leading directly to submissions. Again, it was brilliant. 2018 is already shaping up to be a banner year up at Colorado Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Stapleton! Thank you Yuri Simoes for getting 2018 started out right!! Thank you also to Ranulfo Gonzalez of Otomi Martial Arts / CTA for organizing the event!
